About David

Hailed for an “engaging modern jazz sound” and music with “a joy-filled momentum” (All About Jazz), pianist-composer David Ecker is a rising star in the jazz scene.   With four absorbing albums and hundreds of thousands of streams, he continues to gain traction and turn heads within the broader listening sphere.

A graduate of Columbia University’s Jazz Studies Program, Ecker has been pursuing his own sound and vision for the past decade.  In 2018 he released his debut— The Visitor Suite.  A captivating duo session, it artfully bridged jazz and neo-classicism.  His sophomore release—2020’s Songs from the Other Day—engaged with the tradition, offering a personalized slant on the piano trio format.

Leveraging remote recording techniques during the pandemic, Ecker brought his production skills to the fore on Respite (Despite).  Stitching together that quintet session, he crafted a bricolage tied to the moment.  Recently, Ecker further expanded his palette in merging piano trio with strings for 2025’s How to Rebuild EP–a suite-length meditation on life and its evolving scope.

In parallel to his recording career, Ecker advocates for artists by dealing with partnerships and marketing as a Label Development Manager at Exceleration Music. With that positive presence in the music business, feature placement at major listening hubs like Spotify’s Jazztronica playlist and Pandora’s Tomorrow’s Jazz station, and an ever-evolving outlook, David Ecker has his fingers on the pulse of the moment.
